IPTV Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use the Android app IPTV Stream Player: Live TV (package com.smarttv.livetv.iptv.player), referred to below as “the app”. “We”, “us” and “our” mean MaxKeyTech, the publisher of the app.
The app is a player only. You bring your own M3U / M3U8 playlists, Xtream Codes logins or single stream links, and the app plays them. It can also cast videos and photos to your TV and work as a TV remote. We do not sell, host or supply any channels, films or other media.
At a glance
| ✓ | No sign-up and no account. We run no servers of our own that store your data. |
| ✓ | Your playlists, logins, passcodes, favorites and history stay on your phone. |
| ✓ | The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob and its partner networks. They use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. |
| ✓ | We use Google Firebase to see how the app is used, to fix crashes and to change settings without an update. |
| ✓ | We never sell your personal information. |
1. What stays on your phone
Everything you type or add to the app is kept in the app's private storage on your device and is not sent to us:
- Playlist names, playlist links and M3U files you add, and the color and icon you pick for each playlist
- Xtream Codes server address, username and password
- Passcodes you set to lock a playlist
- Your favorite channels and recently watched list
- TVs and remotes you save for the remote feature (name, brand and local network address)
- Preferences such as app language and the interests you picked during setup
When you press play, your phone connects straight to the stream address in your playlist. The owner of that stream sees your IP address and request under its own terms; we are not part of that connection. To remove this data, delete the playlist in the app, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
2. What is collected automatically, and by whom
2.1 Ads (Google AdMob and mediation partners)
The app shows banner, native and full-screen ads using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To pick, deliver and count ads, Google and the partner networks listed in section 4 may receive:
- Your device's advertising ID (you can reset it or delete it in Android settings)
- IP address, and a rough location worked out from it
- Device model, Android version, language, screen size and connection type
- App version, and which ads were shown, viewed or tapped
On supported devices, Google's ads SDK may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox (Topics, attribution and ad ID) and the Google Play install referrer to measure ad campaigns.
2.2 Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Firebase Analytics collects a random app-instance ID, device and Android details, approximate country, app version, session length and the screens you open. On top of the standard data, the app sends a few events of its own:
- playlist_added: the kind of playlist (link, M3U file or Xtream) and whether a passcode was set. The link, name and login are never sent.
- channel_played: where playback started, plus the channel name and group exactly as written in your playlist.
- onboarding_interests: the features you chose on the welcome screen (for example “Cast phone to TV”).
- Ad events: for each ad place in the app, when an ad was requested, loaded, shown, tapped or closed, the ad network that served it, and the estimated ad revenue reported by Google. These help us place ads in a way that is less intrusive.
2.3 Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a report so we can fix the problem. A report contains the error details, the app version, device model, Android version, free memory and a random installation ID. It does not include your playlists or logins.
2.4 Remote settings (Firebase Remote Config)
The app downloads settings such as which ad units to use, using a Firebase installation ID and basic device information.
3. Why we use it
| What for | Which data | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Playing your playlists and streams | Playlist data on your phone | Providing the app you asked for |
| Casting and TV remote | Local addresses of your TVs | Providing the feature you use |
| Ads and fraud prevention | Device and ad interaction data | Legitimate interest (keeping the app free) |
| Personalized ads | Advertising ID, device and ad data | Your consent |
| Understanding use, fixing crashes | Analytics events, crash reports | Legitimate interest, or consent where the law requires it |
| Changing settings remotely | Firebase installation ID | Legitimate interest |
4. Companies that receive data
These providers handle data under their own privacy policies:
- Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config and the User Messaging Platform for consent): policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses data from partner apps
- AppLovin: applovin.com/privacy
- InMobi: inmobi.com/privacy-policy
- Mintegral: mintegral.com/en/privacy
- Pangle: pangleglobal.com/privacy
- Liftoff (Vungle): liftoff.io/privacy-policy
AppLovin, InMobi, Mintegral, Pangle and Liftoff are ad networks that AdMob can call on to fill an ad slot. Open-source libraries in the app, such as the video player and image loader, run only on your phone and send nothing to us.
5. Web pages inside the app
Some parts of the app can open web content that we or an ad partner choose: for example a web page during the welcome screens, an image or page shown when no ad is available, or the YouTube mobile site in the YouTube cast tool. These pages are run by third parties and may set cookies or collect data under their own policies. Tapping an ad also takes you to a site or app we do not control. We never pass your playlists or logins to these pages.
6. Permissions and what they are for
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Internet, network and Wi-Fi state | Playing streams, loading ads and settings, checking your connection |
| Wi-Fi multicast | Finding smart TVs on your home network for the remote |
| Infrared (IR) transmitter | Sending remote-control signals on phones with an IR blaster |
| Foreground service (screen sharing) | Showing your screen on your TV when you start casting. Nothing is recorded or sent to us. |
| Modify system settings | Changing brightness with the swipe gesture in the player, only if you allow it |
| Notifications | Reminders and playback notifications |
| Vibration, keep awake | Feedback on remote buttons; keeping playback running |
| Advertising ID and ad services | Used by Google and partner ad SDKs as explained in section 2.1 |
Photos and videos you choose to cast or play are opened on your phone only when you select them, and are never uploaded to us.
7. Your choices
- Consent: in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before personalized ads. You can change your choice later from Settings > Privacy settings in the app.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it, or turn off ad personalization, in your phone's settings (Settings > Google > Ads or Settings > Privacy > Ads).
- Stored data: delete playlists in the app, or clear the app's storage.
- Stop everything: uninstall the app.
8. Keeping and protecting data
Data on your phone stays until you delete it or remove the app. Data collected by Google and the ad partners is kept according to their own retention rules and our Firebase Analytics retention setting. The SDKs in the app send data over encrypted connections where the provider supports it. Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, with the safeguards the law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to object to or limit its use, and to withdraw consent. Because we keep no personal data on servers of our own, most requests are handled through the choices in section 7 and the providers in section 4. If you need help, email us and we will reply within 30 days.
10. Children
The app is not meant for children under 13, or the minimum age set by the law in your country, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has used the app and shared information, contact us and we will help remove it.
11. About content
The app contains no channels, playlists or media of its own. You are responsible for the playlists and streams you add and for having permission to watch them. Watching copyrighted content without permission may be illegal where you live.
12. Updates to this policy
When the app changes we may update this policy. The latest version will always be on this page, with the effective date at the top.
